My grandmother passed away the end of May (2016) and I had purchased a book like this for her a few years back. Shortly after, she had a stroke, and wasn't able to write very well. When she got sick, my mother gave me this book back, and many of the pages were left blank. I feel like there are so many memories that are now gone, questions I will never have answers for. I am determined to prevent that from happening again and purchased a book for my parents, step parents, my in-laws, and my husband and I. I am hoping to have them filled out entirely so my children will have a keepsake for after we are gone. All the books (grandpa, grandma, mother, father, etc.) are the same - 365 pages of the same questions - however questions you might never think of asking a loved one. I am excited to get the books finished and look forward to having my boys read them when they are older.
It would have been nice if the pages are made with better quality paper. My book came with some ripped pages including the front cover. Now I will have to return it because I know grandma will not be happy with this. I thought the cover will be a hardcover type of book, but it's just a cardboard type of paper so yeah, it's partially ripped off from the spiral ring. Otherwise, would have been a good book for grandmas to write on because it has ample space on each pages of questions, one to do each day.
I bought "Grandpa Tell me . . " because my husband suffers from dementia and I wanted to give him cues for remembering and leave that knowledge for our grandson. When a good friend told me that her young granddaughter was asking her questions about her life and growing up I bought this book for her. I am told that the book brought this already close pair even closer together. They spend each visit going through and adding to the book and talking about Grandma's life.
This is a lovely concept and I wish I had one for my own grandmother. I purchased this for my husband's grandmother to pass along to her daughter (my mother in law) and so on and forth. It was well received and it didn't take long for everyone to get excited over the answers. It comes with questions for people to fill out, some of the questions were delightful and it was fun to reminisce but many did not pertain to the gift receiver. It would have been nice if instead of pre filled questions, it gave the option for the grandchildren to ask questions, making it a family event with memories that pertain to the person using the book.All in all I am very satisfied with my purchase and feel as if the book is beautifully printed and designed.
This is so wonderful; I gave the Daddy, Tell me.... Version to my dad who passed away a year ago and am SO GLAD. It is a fantastic way to tell/share your life with a beloved child.The day-by-day questions and suggestions are easy, thought-provoking and easily applied to a variety of backgrounds. It is a gift to a loved one.
This is a super cute keepsake and being spiralbound makes it easy for turning pages to fill out and/or read!
3rd purchase of this type of book, the Mom book was my first and the Dad book was my second. What a great way to find out more about your beloved family that using this book. My Mom had the best time filling in each page. Some of the questions made her laugh, other questions made her cry. it was all so very touching. She really enjoyed it. Now and then I pull it out and go over some of the questions with her just to talk about the answer she wrote and to hear the story first hand. The Dad and Grama books I used in a different way, and I did the interviewing. I asked the questions and filled in the answers. That was fun. These are valuable keepsakes that I will treasure forever...for my own reading pleasure and to share with siblings, nephews, and other family members.
This book is amazing! We bought one for my grandma so she could fill it out for our daughter. 365 pages of questions you may have never thought to ask, but allow her to tell the story of her childhood and life with pictures and all the details. Such a fun gift. We are all excited to give it back to my daughter later.
